MacDonald, Ursula Pearl, age 84, formerly of Black Avon, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Anne Vigneau in Addington Forks on December 29, 2022.

Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (MacNeil) Callahan.

Pearl was the last surviving member of her large immediate family.  She loved social gatherings and having family around.  Square dancing and step dancing was a big part of her younger life, and she delighted in watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren perform in dancing competitions. She was an excellent cook, well known for her ginger cake. She loved travelling, never wanted to miss bingo, and enjoyed a good game of crib.   Pearl’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her children: Francis (Debby), Fraser’s Grant; Roddie (Natalie), South River; Anne (Paul) Vigneau, Addington Forks; John (Judy), Black Avon; Michael, St Francis Harbour; sixteen grandchildren; Frankie, Peter, Scott, Allison, Gina, Jillian, Brittany, Katie, Tracey, Amanda, Cory, Melissa, Ashley, Dawson, Corey and Will;  twenty-two great grandchildren; sisters in law, Mary (Francis) Rossong and Judy Callahan; brothers in law, William Benoit and Stephen Oakley.

She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-two years, William;  son, John Peter, in infancy; brothers: Jim, Bernard, Sandy, Joe, Frances; sisters: Mary, Anne, Theresa, Marie and Isabel.

Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.  Funeral Mass will be in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton on Monday at 11:00 am with Reverend Dennis Lamey presiding.  Burial in the Parish Cemetery.  Donations in memory may be made to VON Antigonish.  Online condolences: www.clcurry.com.
