van Bommel, Peter John, age 74,  Clydesdale, Antigonish Co. passed away in Guysborough Memorial Hospital on April 4, 2023 after a brief illness.

Born in Asten, Netherlands to the late Joseph and Maria van Bommel, he immigrated to Canada with his parents and two siblings in 1951.

Peter worked as a carpenter and machinist.  He lived in Milford Haven Home for Special Care prior to his death.

Surviving are twelve siblings: Mary (John Heukshorst), Truro; John, Alma; Joe (Dot), Dieppe; Henry (Diana), Cloverville; Joanne (Eileen Blanchard), Aldouane, NB; Teresa (Roy Arsenault), Coalburn; Margaret (Peter MacInnis) Debden, SK; Anthony (Joseé) Waterdown, ON; Christene Linberg, Stockholm, Sweden; Paul (Lisa), Victoria, BC; Louie, Ottawa, ON; Martin (Dianne), Antigonish; thirty-five nieces and nephews and thirty-four great nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister-in-law, Verna van Bommel.

Cremation has taken place.  Funeral Service to be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 22, 2023 in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish with Reverend Danny MacLennan presiding. Burial to follow in St. Ninian Cemetery.
