It is with
deep sadness that her family announces the passing of Grayce Merriam
(Boyd) Pellerin of Larry’s River, NS, on April 29, 2023 , in
Milford Haven Home for Special Care in
Guysborough.
Grayce was
born on October 24, 1938, in Great Village, NS, to the late Percy and
Christena (Merriam) Boyd.
She was a
graduate of the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College in Truro, and
for several years was a teacher in Halifax where she met her future
husband, Basil Pellerin. After their marriage, they moved to
Larry’s River where they built a home and raised a family of
four boys. Over the years Grayce’s unwavering
love, leadership, support, and commitment to her family and her
community were extremely commendable, and she was always ready to
volunteer. She was a long-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of
Guysborough Memorial Hospital, an avid supporter of Guysborough
Options for Adaptive Living Society (GOALS), an avid bridge player, a
gardener, and she excelled at cooking, crafts, and sewing. She was a
beautiful singer who, for many years, was a member of the church
choir.
She is
survived by her three sons, Marc (Elaine), Fredericton; Neil (Leeann
Theriault), Larry’s River; and Ian, L’Arche Cape
Breton; two grandsons, Nicholas, and Patrick; sister, Meredith (Robert
Layton); brother, Robert (Rose); brother-in-law, Gordie
(Mary);sister-in-law Mary Catherine (M.C.)(MacDonald) Pellerin and
several nieces and nephews.
Besides her
parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Basil; and her son, Jean
André.
Visitation
will be held Friday, May 5, 2023, from 7 to 9pm at the Communities
Along the Bay Facility in Larry’s River. Funeral Mass will
take place in St. Peter’s Church, Larry’s River on
May 6, 2023, at 2pm. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers
may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary, Guysborough Memorial
Hospital.
