VanBerkel, Anthony J., Taylor’s
Road
It is with
sadness that we announce the sudden passing of
Anthony John VanBerkel of Taylors Road, Antigonish
County. He was born February 15, 1947 in Berlicum, The Netherlands.
Anthony was the son of the late Adrian Sr. and Johanna (Konings)
VanBerkel. He immigrated to Canada in 1951, along with his parents and
seven siblings. Anthony ran a successful dairy farm for 35 years in
Saltsprings, Antigonish County. Over the years he participated in many
farm organizations and was a proud exhibitor at the Eastern Nova
Scotia Exhibition. In recent years he took great pride in the upkeep
of the St. Croix Cemetery. Family meant a lot to Anthony, and he could
recount in great detail events from the past. His ability to remember
was impeccable.
Anthony is
survived by his spouse of 44 years, Lillian (Landry); five sisters,
Betty Thomson, Toosje (Casey) Van de Sande, Linda (Frank) MacDonald,
Ria (Joseph) Spee, Mary (Art) Ball; four brothers, Henry (Elaine),
John (Abbie), Leo (Joyce), Adrian (Ann Marie); sister-in-law, Gwen
Alves Berkhout, Famie Landry; brothers-in-law, Francis (Paulina), Joe
(Judy); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his
parents, sister Ann Berkhout, brothers-in-law Jerry Berkhout, Frank
Thomson, and nephews David Van de Sande and Kevin Van de
Sande.
