Ann Gerarda Tobin

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ann Gerarda (Druhan) Tobin, 75 of Saltsprings on August 19, 2023, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.

Born in Antigonish, Ann was the daughter of the late Catherine Chisholm (Ohio) and Aubrey Druhan (Keppoch).

Ann was a wife, mother, sister, nannie & friend.  All who knew her, knew that she was the kindest and most generous person.  She spent her earlier years working as a care giver for Antigonish Homemakers and later doing private care to many.

Mom’s door was always open and no matter what time of day, you could always get a cup of tea and hot biscuit.  She enjoyed many evenings up in Ashdale playing cards.  She made a lot of lasting friendships through her love of Bingo.  She loved chatting about Politics and news around the world.  Although she had many years of hospital stays, she managed to always stay positive.  Mom was a social butterfly and considered strangers as friends she hadn’t met yet.  She made this world a better place.

Ann is survived by her loving husband Jim, children Sonya (Robert), Richie (Tanya), Brandy (Gerard) and Sandy.  Her pride and joy were her grandkids, Druhan, Alex, Jack, Luke, Jaimie, Aidan, Laura, and Ben.  Her siblings, Mary (late Ted) Carroll, New Glasgow, Georgina Cameron, Antigonish, Jean (late Doug) Cameron, Alberta, Margie (Placid) Cameron, Antigonish, Sandy (Diane) Druhan, Ashdale, Aubrey, Antigonish, Marian (Frank) Delorey, Saltsprings.  Sister-in-law, Joan (Ronnie) Venedam, Pomquet.  Ann had many nieces and nephews who she truly adored.

Ann was predeceased by brothers Benny (Charlene) Druhan, Ashdale and Lenny Druhan, Antigonish.

The family wanted to send a special thank you to Jill Leon and her "Dialysis Family" who not only provided excellent care but were her friends throughout the years.

At Ann’s request, there will be no visitation.  A private family service will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd with burial at a later date.

Memorial donations made be made to the Dialysis Unit at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.
