Richard,
Joseph Bernard, age 65, of Linwood and formerly of Cape George passed
away on September 3, 2023, in St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in
Antigonish and raised in Knoydart, he was a son of the late Reginald
and Catherine (Gillis) Richard.
Joe simply
loved the water, both as a lobster fisherman and fishing for
fun. He enjoyed hunting, working in the woods, tinkering
with old cars, and when he was in Cape George, you could always find
him with his friend, Ron. Joe was the sort of guy who would
always offer you a hand whenever needed, and his grandkids were his
pride and joy.
He is
survived by his wife, Susan (Gosbee); children, Shawna (Jeremy)
Crowley, Port Hawkesbury; Ruby Richard (Jay Fougere), Mulgrave; Reggie
(Nicol) Richard, Linwood; six grandchildren, Faith & Kaden,
Dominic & Rubin, and Andrélle & Noah;
siblings, Mary (Bernie), Margie, Peter, Robert, Florence (Robert),
Curtis, Lawrence, John, and Roy.
Predeceased
by his granddaughter, Gabrielle; sisters, Helen and Joany, and his
parents-in-law, Ruby and Victor Gosbee.
Cremation has
taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street,
Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Friday in St.
Mary’s Church, Lismore, at 11:00am, with Fr. Colin MacKinnon
presiding.
In Memoriam,
donations to the Canadian Cancer Society
appreciated.
