Paulette, Mary Jane, age 58, Paqtnkek First Nation, passed away on September 6, 2023 in the V.G. Hospital, Halifax.

Born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Margaret (Simon) Paulette

Mary Jane was an educator. She attended Antigonish East High School, received her Bachelor of Education degree from St. FX and was an X-Project Board Member for many years. She was committed to her work as a teacher preparing students for their GED and providing Life Skills training.  Her sharing of knowledge went far beyond the classroom having many phone tutor sessions with her daughter, Nadine and others as they made their way through university.  Mary Jane was a wonderful mother, an outstanding Grandma,  and second mom to many. 

She is survived by daughter, Nadine (Aaron) Prosper, Membertou; sons: Derrick, Halifax; Vincent, Paqtnkek First Nation; grandchildren: Casey, Jace, and Drew Paulette; Trey and Benson Stevens; sister, Doris Handscomb, New Glasgow; foster brother, Nelson; foster sister Janie; Godchildren: Mary Elizabeth Prosper, Crystal Johnson,  Nigel Henderson; special sisters: Linda, Anne Marie, Rita and Tricia as well as many nieces, nephews, aunties and uncles. Her dog "Baby" will miss her as well.

She was predeceased by brothers: Daniel, Benjamin, James and Rodney.

Visitation will be in her residence at 59 Petow Loop, Paqtnkek First Nation on Tuesday, September 12th, after 5:00 pm.  Funeral Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton on Thursday at 11:00 am with Reverend Dennis Lamey presiding.  Burial in St. Ann`s Cemetery, Summerside.  Online condolences: www.clcurry.com.
