She was born on November 17, 1931, in Little Dover,

John and Lena (Gurney) Casey.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Horne (Mike

She was the last surviving member of her family and
was predeceased by siblings, Nora, Lucy, Eileen, Ruth, Bernice,

Ruby was a dedicated member of St. Ninian Parish and
the CWL.
She was a St. Martha’s Regional Hospital
Palliative Care volunteer and a member of the Antigonish Town and
County Palliative Care Society. She was also a member of the
Bethany Choir and the Bonnie Blends.
Ruby loved camping in Country Harbour with Ambrose and
their dog, Casey. For family occasions, she would
always bake Nanny’s white cake.
Ruby thoroughly enjoyed her life. She
was well known for her infectious smile; her stories, songs, and
poems; her rich sense of humour and zest for life; and her love of God
and her family. She continued to share her gifts
with others on a daily basis.
Ruby’s bond with her grandchildren was
beyond words. Nanny was their teacher, friend,
confidant, storyteller, and their connection to prayer.
Nanny’s powerful blessings and prayers provided
strength through challenging and joyous
times.
Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to
ALL the outstanding staff at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home. Thank
you for the love, respect, and exceptional care you so graciously
