Connors, Stephen Thomas "Tom", age 68, of Cloverville, Antigonish County, passed away suddenly on November 1, 2023, in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Thomas Lawrence and Mary Margaret (DeWolfe) Connors.

Tom spent much of his life working in the forestry industry as a dedicated employee for John W. McCarron, Scott & Stewart, and finally RES Sustainable Forestry. He was passionate about his career and loved working outdoors until his retirement in 2021. After his retirement, he got to live out one of his dreams of a cross-country road trip in his truck with his wife and favourite co-pilot, Barb, to visit family in Alberta. There was rarely a Sunday that went by that Tom (and Barb) weren’t found taking the scenic route around Nova Scotia and beyond.

Tom was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Arras Branch #59 since 1991, holding many titles including president, past-president, and most recently, zone commander. He looked forward to volunteering annually with the poppy campaign leading up to Remembrance Day and the Colour Party for various parades. One of his favourite past-times was challenging somebody to a game of crib (which he hated to lose) and he was honored to represent Nova Scotia at the Nationals in BC.

Tom was also a proud husband, father, and grandfather and was lovingly referred to as "Grampie Tom".  He will be sadly missed by his cherished friends, with whom he could regularly be seen enjoying a coffee (a predictable large with three cream and one sugar) at his beloved Tim Horton’s.

Tom is survived by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Barbara (nee Greencorn); children, Barbara Ann (Billy) O’Brien, Moncton, NB; John (Nancy), Antigonish, NS; and Wendy (Mike), Brooklyn, NS; grandchildren, Courtney (Mark), Tyler (Julie), Cole, Andie, and Brooke; great-grandson, Jayce; siblings, Karen DeWolfe, Margaret Benoit, and John Leo Benoit; sister-in-law, Wendy Benoit; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Georgie Benoit, and many aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.  Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday in St. Ninian Cathedral at 11:00am with Reverend Elliott O’Neal presiding.  Burial in the parish cemetery.

In Memoriam, donations to Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are appreciated.
