Our hearts are broken to announce the loss of a beloved wife, mother, (great) grandmother and friend. Mary Bernadette Snow (Noble) passed away peacefully with her husband of 52 years Robert (Bob), with daughters Rhonda and Vanessa and family at her side in the Palliative Care ward at St. Martha's Hospital.
Bernadette was born in New Waterford and raised in Sydney Mines to the late Thelma Noble and Chester Noble. Bernadette and Bob later moved to Havre Boucher where they raised their two daughters Rhonda and Vanessa and opened a muffler shop that they operated for 28 years. Although Bernadette spent most of her life living in Havre Boucher, Cape Breton and her island family held a very special place in her heart. She loved camping in the summer at Port Hood Beach; where she spent much of her time laughing and making great memories with her family and friends.
Mom was all of the best things a person can be and more, the least of which were witty, generous, classy and thoughtful. With a heart of gold, she volunteered at the food bank, and offered up help before one even had to ask. In their younger years, mom and dad toured their adventurous spirits all over the US on Bob's Harley Davidson. Some of the things that brought her joy were listening to Merle Haggard, cooking a delicious meal, and spending time with family and hosting friends at the family camp. She also loved to dance, play cards, diving into a good book and had a passion for red cardinal birds. She was the go-to person we called when we needed advice on the daily and was always there for her family and friends whom she loved and protected fiercely. She had endless praise for her grandchildren, and always encouraged them to be their best selves, to be humble and kind and never forget where they came from.
She was our warrior, who fought a hard battle against cancer, she was an inspiration to us for all that she endured and the ways that she could infuse humour into the hardest times. When her time came; she carried herself with dignity and strength, may she be at peace now, without any pain. To say she will be missed is a massive understatement.
She is survived by her husband Robert Snow; daughters Rhonda (Perry) and Vanessa (Judson); grandchildren Clea, Keil (Kailey), Lewis, Jack; and great grandson Joyner. She is predeceased by her brothers, Donnie, Charlie, Sheldon, Darren, and Russel Noble.
We would like to thank the amazing Dr. Rice, Dr. Simms and & their incredible nursing staff and assisting doctors at the palliative care unit of St Martha's Hospital, along with the VON nurses who supported her from home. The family would also like to thank all of her friends and family who have supported us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the palliative care unit of St. Martha’s Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com
In the writing of Bernadette;
"If I go,
While you’re still here,
Please live your life to the fullest,
When you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
I will be there."
