Melanson, Diane Stella  of Pomquet, Antigonish County, passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish on March 30, 2024 at the age of 75.

Born in Charlos Cove, Guysborough County, Diane was a daughter of the late Peter and Dorothy (Richard) Levangie.

She is survived by her son Jerry (Lisa) Melanson, Pomquet; daughter Rachel (Stephen) White, South River; grandchildren Mikayla, Declan, Robert and Riley; sister Isabelle Levangie, South River; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Melanson, Pomquet; Jean Grant, St. Francis Harbour and Barbara Coffin, Regina; brother-in-law Wilfred, Tracadie and her special Newfie family and many other family members and good friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Melanson; her sisters Lorraine Balance, Catherine Roy, Theresa Logan; brothers, David Levangie and Frederick Levangie.

Diane left her home in Charlos Cove at the age of 15 and moved to Toronto and then settled in Antigonish where she worked at a few different places including Silver's Cleaners, The Met restaurant, Wong’s Restaurant, St. Francis Xavier University (where she met her future husband Gerald), the Bethany and Snow Queen Leisure World.  She worked at the Snow Queen Leisure World for 35 years before retiring and was famous for her cooking skills there, especially her ability to make the best Queenburgers.  She was grateful for her close friends and family who supported her in recent years after losing her beloved husband Gerald, especially her devoted son Jerry and Lisa. 

Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation or funeral scheduled at this time.  Donations in Diane's memory can be made to a charity of choice.
