It is with
devastating sadness that we said farewell to our beloved Joy, age 58,
of Afton, NS, on April 4, 2024. Another beautiful soul lost
to cancer.
Joy was a
fun-loving, active person who loved the outdoors, especially camping,
campfires, singing, and swimming.
Joy was a
member of the Canadian Navy and was a female pioneer who served
onboard the HMCS NIPIGON in the early 1990s. She loved her
work as a Naval Acoustic Combat Operator. She travelled
extensively around the globe, and especially loved the
Caribbean.
Joy loved
children, and following her retirement from the Canadian Forces, she
and her husband, Sam, fostered children through Mi’kmaq
Family Services. She was blessed to call Charlotte, Britney,
Shy Ann, and Jodin her daughters.
Joy is
survived by her loving husband, Sam; daughters, Charlotte, Britney,
Shy Ann, and Jodin; grandchildren, Trinity (21), Tyya (18), Danika
(16), Charlotte (11), Nathan (4), Noah (3), Ashley (3), and Autumn Joy
(8 mos.); as well as her loving sisters, Kim, Leigh, and
Wanda.
She was
predeceased by her parents, Robert and Gail Scharff of Greely ON, and
eldest sister Nancy of Vernon BC.
Please sign
our online guestbook; anecdotes about Joy would be most welcome. Joy
will live on forever in all our hearts.
