MacGillivary, Violet Catherine, age 80, of Monastery, Antigonish County, passed away on May 10, 2024, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late John Simms and Margaret MacGillivary.
Violet lived and worked in Ontario for many years before moving back to Nova Scotia. She worked as a personal care worker at High-Crest Home for Special Care in Sherbrooke, which she enjoyed very much. She loved to travel, including across Canada as far as Alberta and into the States, including Tennessee, Mississippi, and Michigan, where she saw Elvis play on New Years Eve. Violet liked camping in Brookside and Fox Mountain and playing her radio bingo.
She is survived by her loving partner, Winston Delorey; daughter, Frances (Chester) Holmes, Stellarton; grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, and Natasha; great-grandchildren, Autumn and Grayson (the twins), and Cohen and Caden; and her brother, John Simms (Jean), Sherbrooke.
Predeceased by her son, Kevin; and brothers, Raymond and Sandy.
Cremation has taken place, and there is no service scheduled at this time. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lismore.
