MacDonald, Catharine Anne "Cacky" ,57, of Antigonish, formerly of Westmount, Cape Breton, passed away peacefully on Friday September 20th surrounded by her family.

Born in Sydney Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late James Fraser and Edith Louise MacDonald.

Catharine dedicated 32 years of her life to the teaching profession.  She was passionate about her students and education having received Canadian Parents for French Second Language Educator of the Year while teaching at St. Andrews Junior School, Antigonish. Over her life her passion for history, wildlife, and nature was unfailing.  She was an enthusiastic hiker, seeking out Nova Scotia’s waterfalls and a world traveler making a point to visit Peru, Egypt, Jordan, Galapagos Islands, Scotland, and Ireland, the list goes on.  It was in her retirement that Catharine fully immersed herself in her love of photography, capturing incredible photos of wildlife and surrounding nature.  Throughout 17 of her years in Antigonish she had one trusted friend that could not go without mentioning, her loving cat Teddie.

She will be dearly missed by her siblings, Dan, Sydney; Rod (Julie), East Bay; Rosena MacDonald, Halifax; Alonzo (Lucy), Halifax; nieces Aky (Andrew Komar), Toronto; and Emily and Olivia both of Halifax; grand niece and nephew Cynthia and James.
