MacDonald,
Janet Marie "Janette", age 99, of Monastery, Antigonish
County, passed away on September 26, 2024, in St. Martha’s
Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Glace
Bay, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Ellen Jean
(Delorey) Olsten.
Anyone
visiting Janette’s home was well fed and well
treated. In addition to raising her children, she worked as
a post mistress, seamstress, and sewing teacher. She was a
proud member of the Happy Tracadonians, St. Peter’s CWL, and
the Tracadie and District Fire Department Ladies
Auxiliary.
She is
survived by her children, Peggy (Tom), Pictou; Ronnie (Doris),
Alberta; Jo-Anne (Mike), Halifax; Elaine (Basil), Tracadie; Sandra
(Brian), Prospect; Terry (Ellen), Williams Point; Kevin (Muriel),
Heatherton; and James (Claire), Monastery; 19 grandchildren and 20
great grandchildren; and brother, James "Maxie"
(Suzanne).
Predeceased
by her husband, Alex; son, Wayne; and brothers, Gus (Marion), Ronnie
(Bev), and James, in infancy.
Cremation has
taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street,
Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 11:00am in
St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie, with Fr. John Barry
presiding. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
