Bowman, Peter Edward, 83, of
Frankville, passed away suddenly on Saturday at
home.
Born in
Antigonish, he was a son of the late William Francis and Mary Agnes
(O’Neil) Bowman.
If you play
cards in the area, then you probably knew Peter, as he could be found
at card plays at least three times a week. When he
wasn’t out playing cards, he could often be found at home...
playing cards! He loved a little bit of competition, but it
was also the socializing that he enjoyed so much.
He was well liked and respected in his community and loved going for
drives and doing his rounds two or three times a day, stopping at the
wharf and his usual spots, chatting with the folks around and getting
the news.
He was
married for 57 years to his loving wife Geraldine, together with whom
he raised his three children, Peter, Janice, and
Michelle. He greatly loved his grandchildren,
teaching them cards and taking great interest in their lives and
achievements. He also delighted in the visits from
his great-grandchildren
Peter was a
dedicated and hardworking man who, for 36 years, worked as a welder
for the Mulgrave Machine Shop. He was also a man of faith
and regularly attended Sunday
Mass.
Besides his
wife Geraldine, he is survived by his children, Peter
(Jennifer), Williams Lake, BC; Janice (Dwayne) Pettipas, Lantz;
Michelle Bell (Bobby Gallagher), Calgary AB; Grandchildren: Tyler
(Brittani), Ryan (Becky), Evan (Taylor), Marcus (Emily), Mya, Julia,
Eric, Lily, and Chord; great grandchildren: Banks, Cooper, Nash, and
Rosie; siblings: Tommy (Susan), New Glasgow; and Donna (Tommy)
Delorey, Frankville.
He was
predeceased by sister Alva (Bill) DeCoste; and brother Francis, as
well as brother John in infancy.
