O’Leary, Judy Anne. It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Judy O’Leary, age 81, on May 10th, 2025 at St. Martha’s Hospital surrounded by her family and friends.

Born in Pictou she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret Hudson.

Judy was the anchor of her family. She treated her grandchildren and great grandchildren as if they were her own. She was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones at home in Purl Brook with good food and a house full of laughter. In most recent years, she liked to spend her days at The Royal Canadian Legion, a place very close to her and her late husband, Paul’s heart where she faithfully helped out with the Remembrance Day wreath and Poppy Campaign. Her dedication to The Legion’s mission will not be forgotten. Mom was a sharpshooter in the dart world but was very humble when taking home a box full of trophies at the year dart banquets. Mom very much missed her job at the Superstore Garden Center. Her knowledge of gardening still made people stop her and ask her for her advice on a shrub or a tree etc many years after she had to give up her position due to health issues.

She is survived by her children: Steve (Ann), Antigonish; Keitha (Joe), Antigonish; Craig (Sarah), North Bay; grandchildren: Alyssa (Mike),Jared (Jenna),Bailey (Cameron) great grandchildren: Jeslyn, Jason; sisters Joan, Truro, Cheryl (Roddie) Ontario, brother Alton (Carolyn), Antigonish and her best friend Barb, Antigonish.

She was welcomed with open arms by her predeceased parents Clarence and Margaret Hudson; brothers Johnny, Floyd, and Kenny; and the love of her life her husband, Paul; a reunion which she has been waiting for since the day he died.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at St. Martha’s hospital for their kindness and compassion to Judy and her family.

There will be no visitation by request.  A graveside service will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lochaber on Friday May 16, 2025 at 1:30pm.  Reverend Peter Smith presiding.

Donations in memory may be made to The Royal Canadian Legion Arras Branch #59, Antigonish.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish.  Online condolences www.clcurry.com
