Golipie Matthew Julian (37) – Arrived earlier than expected on November 20, 1988, and he left us for the spirit world far too soon on March 4, 2026.

Born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, he was the beloved son of the late Albert Matthew Julian and Judy Bernard-Julian.

Golipie attended NSCC where he graduated in plumbing. He later worked as a cashier at the Paqtnkek Entertainment Center from the time it opened in 2010. He truly enjoyed his time there and often spoke about how much he loved meeting and chatting with the many people who came through the doors.

Known as a gentle giant, Goli had a deep and unconditional love for his family, especially his nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart. Animals seemed to trust him instantly, drawn to his calm and kind nature. He cared for them with the same kindness he showed everyone around him.  Goli had a creative spirit and enjoyed sketching during his downtime. He also cherished his online gaming community, and to him, they were not just friends but an extension of his family.

He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Juliana Julian (Mario George) and Gail Marshall, both of Paqtnkek; his brothers, Colin Julian of Paqtnkek and Jay Julian (Leanne Googoo) of We’koqma’q; and foster brother Jamie LeDrew, of Paqtnkek. He also leaves behind his Godfather, Anthony Nevin; and his godchildren, James LeDrew and Connor MacIsaac, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Predeceased by his parents, Albert Julian and Judy Bernard-Julian; his brother, Stanley Julian; his sisters, Alicia and Tara Julian, his maternal grandmother, Mary (Joe) Bernard; maternal grandmother, Joe LaChapelle; and his paternal grandparents, Theresa (Battiste) Julian and Freeman Julian; and his godmother, Elizabeth Nevin.

Visitation begins Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 5pm at 19 Mug-A-Sun Road, Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, at 11:00am, with Father Dennis Lamey presiding. Community feast and Salite to take place at the Paqtnkek Community Complex following Mass.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish. Online condolences:  www.clcurry.com
