PETTIPAS,
John Christian, 42, of Antigonish, passed away suddenly and
tragically on May 21, 2026 near his home in
Tracadie.
Born in
Antigonish, he was a son of Charlie and Evelyn
Pettipas.
Over the
years John picked up a few trades including pipefitting and
carpentry. He was a quiet guy, in his own way, but with lots
of personality. He was a hard worker and cared about his
family and friends, especially his daughter
Jondi.
He possessed
the magic touch when it came to animals and they were drawn to him
whether it was becoming pals with a crow who would come sit on his
shoulder or feeding chips to a deer who would come up that
close. He had that energy they
trusted.
John, though,
didn’t live the easiest life. He struggled over
the years with depression and anxiety, and with his mental health
struggles also came addiction. Although his struggles took a
toll on his life, we know John would like you to remember him as the
gentle and loving guy that he
was.
Besides his
parents Charlie and Evelyn, he is survived by his daughter, Jondi
Pettipas, Alberta; siblings: Elliot, Tracadie; Mary, Truro;
Arthur (Jessica), North Grant; Felicia, Tracadie; grandmother Mary
Boyle, Antigonish Manor; and many aunts uncles and
cousins.
There will be
no public visitation, but a Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at
11:00am in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie. Reverend
John Barry presiding.
