
McCall, Douglas "Doug" Shea, age 66, of Boylston, Guysborough County passed away suddenly on June 13, 2026.
Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late Gordon and Jeanette (Shea) McCall.
Doug was the youngest of 9 siblings, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.
Doug worked for Rowan Drilling Companies, an offshore oil rig for 38 years, where he gained his nickname "too tall McCall." His latest adventure was sheering Christmas trees which he enjoyed to the fullest. In his younger years, Doug enjoyed playing volleyball and softball. He loved all sports, especially watching the Toronto Blue Jays and World Jr. hockey. Doug loved spending time outdoors at his camp in Goose Harbour, boating, snowmobiling, the side by side and riding his motorcycle. When inside, Doug enjoyed bread making and making his famous home brew for everyone to enjoy.
Doug was a loving son, husband, father, brother and special grandfather "Grampy." He is survived by his wife, Tina; son, Chad (Jenna) McCall, Frankville; daughter, Katie (Evan) DeCoste, Tracadie; stepson, Jamie (Claire) Kerr, Toronto, family and friends. Doug’s pride and joy were his 5 grandchildren: Hayes, Harper, Coralee, Hazel and Halle. He was always so happy to see them coming through the door and they embraced him with love. Doug will be missed by his loving 4 legged companion Hobo.
