Born in Merland, Guysborough County, she was the daughter of the late James and Sarah (Bowman) Gavin.

She was a wonderful mother, a loving grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. She fought a gallant fight and faced each day with dignity and undying faith. She enjoyed fishing and hunting, but her greatest enjoyment was her family.

She was predeceased by daughter Linda, sister Florence, brothers Bill and John and son-in-law Edgar.
