Chisholm, Joan, 86, of Antigonish and formerly of Harbour Centre died
peacefully on September 11, 2009, at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home,
Antigonish with her family at her side.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Donovan) Leblanc.
She was a teacher in various parts of Nova Scotia, but mostly in Antigonish County. She was a graduate of Normal College in Truro and of St.F.X. University, class of '77. She was also a member of St. Ninian's CWL. Joan loved music, and enjoyed singing all her life. But above all, her priority was always her family.
She is survived by her husband John; sons Brian (Debbie), Michael (Annette) and Hugh John (Kathy); daughter Mary Anne (Carmen Novak); grandchildren Kirk, Kim, Kristen, and Kourtney Chisholm, Gillian and Daniel Chisholm, Caitlin and Lindsey Chisholm, and Adam and David Novak; sisters Mary MacDonald and Sr. Catherine Leblanc, CND, and Theresa Barrington; brothers Florian, John, Julian, and Urban; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Joan Anne and brother Charles.
Visitation will be Sunday at the C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm and Monday after 2:30pm. Mass of Christian Funeral will be held Monday at St. Ninian's Cathedral at 2:30pm, Reverend Tom MacNeil presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
