Murphy, Andrew John, 86, of Lochaber, passed away on July 20th, 2013 at the High-Crest Sherbrooke Home For Special Care, Sherbrooke.

Born in Iona, Prince Edward Island he was a son of the late Francis and Mary (Roach) Murphy.

Andy went to Nova Scotia in 1942 to find employment. He worked as a wood cutter, owner/operator of a candy factory, a seaman on the Great Lakes, owner/operator of a trucking business and finishing his working life as a Christmas tree contractor and painter. Andy found employment and much more in Nova Scotia and settled here to raise his family.

He is survived by his wife, of 64 years, Edith (Mason); children: Janet (Alphonse Delorey), Edmonton; Buddy (Flossie), Lochaber; Margo (Clive MacKeen), Fort McMurray; Carolyn (Jim MacDonald), Lochaber; Wanda (Joe MacDonald), Lochaber; Randy, Edmonton; Bradley, Winnipeg; Brett, Edmonton; and Dana (Tanya) Lochaber; grandchildren: Shane, Christopher, Wayne, Tony, Leo, Leanne, Tania, Trent, Tyson, Tyler, Adam, Kara, Aaron, Kristen, Jennifer, MacKenzie, and Riley; great grandchildren: Taylor, Zoe, Flora, Warren, Max, Colby, Charlie, Maddison, Brady, Xander, Aubree, Emilee, Karissa, and Alexandrea; brother Leonard (Joan), PEI, and sister Margaret, PEI.

He was predeceased by brothers, Leo (twin), Gerald, George, Joseph, and John (in infancy) and sister Mary.

Visitation will be in C.L.Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St. Antigonish on Tuesday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Patrick's Church, Lochaber on Wednesday at 11:00am, Reverend Alphonses presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
